A Busy Week

View Comments AirPad, Life

Well, the past week has been absolutely crazy… AirPad (the student organization at Iowa State that of which I serve as President) attended the AIAA Region V Conference in Cedar Rapids this week.  The conference ran from Wednesday to Friday, but since I’m currently working full time at Rockwell Collins as a Co-op, I had to juggle both the conference and work!  Everyone from Ames arrived on Wednesday night, and the presentations were Thursday and Friday.  We presented on Thursday afternoon, and did pretty well!  Friday evening there was a dinner and Kent Statler, the Executive Vice President of Commercial Systems at Rockwell Collins, was the keynote speaker.  After dinner, the awards ceremony was held for the winners of the conference.  Unfortunately, AirPad didn’t win any of the awards, but considering that we’ve only been working on the project for a semester, we did well!  We’re currently on the first iteration of the project, and we’ll be continuing into other iterations of the project in the future, and returning to the conference next year to present our new research and hopefully do even better!

I’m spending the weekend recuperating from the crazy week, then it’s back to work on Monday.  The coming week shouldn’t be as crazy, but next weekend is VEISHEA at Iowa State, so I’ll be returning to Ames.

A New Blog…

View Comments Life

I’ve tried many times over the years to have a running blog with the general events that are going on in my life.  I tried this in high school, and failed.  I tried again at the beginning of college, and failed.  I tried again this past summer, and although I got a few interesting posts done, I still stopped writing it (or even looking at it) after a couple of months.

I’ve come to realize is that one reason that I haven’t been very good at blogging so far is because my life really isn’t that fascinating.  However, I do have a pretty good pulse on new technology, and can generally provide a reasonable example of how technology can be used by a college student.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to create this new blog (which is also my primary website) to be used as both a personal blog and a technology blog.  My goal is to have at least one post per week.  So, if you’re interested in hearing about my (less than fascinating) life, and my opinion on technology, stay tuned!
